Reiki translates into - Universal Life Force Energy

Reiki is a Japanese Healing technique that assists you in rebalancing your body on the physical, emotional and spiritual levels, thus reducing stress, increasing relaxation and promoting healing. Practitioners utilize this specific energy to assist you in your healing journey.

During a session, you are usually on laying on a table face up, fully clothed (with the exception of your shoes). You may have pillows placed under our head and knees for comfort as well as additional support as needed. You are then covered with a sheet/light blanket, the lights are lowered, and soft music is played.

Your practitioner will then begin the session by placing her hands lightly upon your body in various hand positions but a session may also be performed with no direct touch to the client. Your comfort / preference are of the utmost importance and honored by the practitioner.

Sessions are usually one hour in length but one and a half hour sessions are available upon request. Sessions for children are usually a half hour but may go as long as one hour. The practitioner obtains written parental consent before any work on a child begins and the parent is required to remain in the room during the entire session. If you have any questions regarding a session for infants / young children, please be sure to discuss with your practitioner.

After your session ends you are asked to sit up slowly, drink a glass of water and you will have plenty of time to ask any questions.

It is recommended you discuss the frequency of sessions with your practitioner, as everyone is different. Standard scheduling is usually no less then once a month but often clients are seen weekly for 3 – 4 sessions then once every other week to once every three weeks and monthly for continued wellness. Illness, stress or environmental circumstances) you are encouraged to call your practitioner before you next appointment to discuss being seen earlier.

Reiki can be used anywhere at any time which makes it the perfect accompaniment to any standard medical protocol you may be using.

Utilizing Reiki during the birth process may assist with the decrease of physical discomforts. Reiki has proven to make it possible for little to no medications to be used during labor.
